Saskatoon

As the largest city in Saskatchewan, Saskatoon has plenty of off-leash dog parks to choose from. All dog parks here require dogs to have a valid pet license (really, it's important to keep it up to date regardless!). It's also crucial to ensure your pup is up to date on vaccinations before going on any outings.

Sutherland Beach Dog Park and Off-Leash Recreation Area

Sitting right along the South Saskatchewan River, Sutherland Beach is one of the most unique leash-free dog parks in the city. The huge space features a mix of open fields, forested areas, and trails, including several that lead directly to the river. One thing to be aware of is that you must take a rough dirt road to get to this dog park.

Hyde Dog Park

Hyde Park is a 4-acre park nestled into the Rosewood neighbourhood on the city's east side. It's one of two Saskatoon off-leash dog parks that was recently expanded, and it now has two separate off-leash areas, one specifically for small dogs. In addition to the two enclosed areas, there are scenic trails that pass alongside the park's lake.

Avalon

Avalon is one of the larger off-leash dog parks in Saskatoon, with a huge, enclosed donut-shaped area for pups to play in (the middle is fenced off for wildlife preservation). This park doesn't have separate areas for larger and smaller dogs; just one large communal space.

Silverwood

Silverwood dog park, on the opposite side of the river from Sutherland Beach, got several major upgrades in spring 2024. A main paved pathway runs parallel to the river, with several smaller social trails branching off directly to the water. Note that the path is used by dogs, cyclists, and pedestrians, so it's important to share the space and keep your dog close.

Chief Whitecap Dog Park

Sometimes also referred to as the Furdale Dog Park, Chief Whitecap has been expanded significantly in the last couple of years. There's plenty of parking (much more than many of the city's other leash-free dog parks), and it features a large network of trails running alongside and to the river.

Regina

The City of Regina has 13 off-leash dog parks—five open year-round and eight that are open seasonally (typically from early May through the end of September). Interestingly, the seasonal dog parks are actually outdoor skating rinks. Great way to repurpose, Regina! Here, we share details about the five-year-round leash-free dog parks.

Cathy Lauritsen Memorial Off-Leash Dog Park

Locals refer to this park, the biggest one in Regina, as simply "Cathy." It has one large area for all dogs, and it's only partially fenced, with Wascana Creek running along one side and acting as a natural border. The scenery is some of the nicest of any park in the city, and there are several benches where owners can sit to watch their pups and socialise.

Mount Pleasant Sports Park

In the northeastern part of the city, Mount Pleasant is one of Regina's few off leash dog parks that has a separate area for smaller pups. The two sides are separated by a fence, and both are fully enclosed. This is a simple park offering exactly what dogs want: a large, open space to run and socialise!

Ross Industrial Off-Leash Dog Park

If you're looking for a no-frills dog park that's fully fenced and simply offers plenty of space for your pooch, put this one at the top of your list. It's uniquely shaped like a bowl, with a large area in the middle that appears to be sunken. Groups of dogs tend to play off-leash in that area, while owners often walk laps with their dog 'up top.' Note that there's no parking lot here, but there are plenty of street parking nearby.

Horizon Station Off Leash Dog Park

Tucked into the corner of Horizon Station Park in the Towns subdivision, this is one of Regina's smaller but newer leash-free dog parks. The park sits in the center of the community, lined by homes, so it's mostly locals who come—but everyone is welcome. Frequenters love the lush grass and lack of dirt or mud.

Regent Park Off Leash Dog Park

This is one of Regina's newer leash-free dog parks, and it has two separate sections for large and small dogs. It's a smaller dog park tucked into a neighbourhood by the same name, with walking paths, an accessible playground, a seasonal splash pad, and a disc golf course. Humans and dogs enjoy the abundance of grass at this park, which has few dirt areas.

Prince Albert

There's only one actual dog park in Prince Albert, although there are also dog-friendly beaches in the Candle Lake resort village. Sandy Bay, Minowukaw, and Waskateena all welcome dogs, although they must be fenced in some designated areas.

Central Bark Dog Park

Perhaps the most unique of all leash-free dog parks on this list, the Prince Albert SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) built Central Bark on its property. It's a rather small park, but exceptionally well-maintained and has fire hydrants for play, as well as separate fenced areas for small and large dogs.

Moose Jaw

Moose Jaw also has just one dog park, but luckily, there's a well-maintained trail system that traverses most of the city. While the city requires leashes for dogs on most trails, it's still a wonderful way to exercise with your pup.

The city operates the two separate enclosed areas here, almost as two different off-leash dog parks: one for small dogs (under 18" tall) and one for bigger dogs. There's even a clever dog house at the park entrance to help owners decide which area to visit. The park has agility tunnels and is open year-round, although running water is only available from May through September.
